Bud, Dot and Larry

There can only be one reason that men are dressed in suits with strained smiles and somber looks on their faces. The occasion had to be a funeral.

This is Uncle Bud, left, Dot (his sister and my grandmother) in the middle, and their brother Larry. And they were all together–and dressed this way– for their mother’s funeral.

Lucy Case Strader died on September 9, 1984 at Heather Hill Nursing Home in Geauga County, Ohio. She was 95 years old. My great-grandmother lived with my grandparents in Chardon, Ohio until her health declined requiring her to go to Heather Hill. Uncle Bud and Uncle Larry lived out of state but came to Ohio to say their final goodbyes to their mom.

This photo was taken right after the burial service for Lucy on the patio of my parents home in Willoughby Hills. Lucy Strader is buried at Whitehaven Park Cemetery in Mayfield Heights, Ohio.
